Lake Norman
A local page, not a statewide repeat
The lake works because it does not ask for a grand plan. I usually leave from Cornelius or Davidson, let the route move north, and decide somewhere along the water whether coffee or another twenty minutes of road is the better idea.
I keep Lake Norman separate because it has its own pace. The useful details here are the recurring local gatherings, a few roads that make the morning feel like more than a parking lot and the source I would check before I leave the driveway.
